My Life and Times

NEW FRONTIERS

Software

Asylum Software Inc.
Developing software with my buddies (and big brothers) has brought many responsibilities and rewards to my family. We have traveled to London, England (see MarkBook fanatics at Victoria Station we met in the Underground Tube) and Las Vegas, Nevada as well as most of the United States and Canada.

We have enjoyed many live performances like Cirque du Soleil's "O", Lord of the Rings, Jersey Boys and Wicked. We dined at the top of the CN Tower last Christmas and look forward to more entertaining venues.

More traveling is anticipated to parts yet to be determined to promote our software. Our website is www.acadiemgroup.com and we continue to develop class management software for Windows, Mac OS X, iPad and web enabled applications. My role as Director of Web Technologies will probably bring more challenges - as we adapt to the changing roles of educators in a technological society.

Business Travel

Golfing Side Trips

I have been quite blessed to have visited many golf courses in the United States and Canada.

I've played Half Moon Bay in San Francisco, CA and broke 80 in Phoenix, AZ at the Legacy Resort (see below).

My first 79 was scored at Grey Silo in Waterloo on a blustery Sunday in November. Golf has taught me many lessons and I'm still learning more every year.

In the summer of 2008, I played the longest hole in North America - a par 6 at Meadows Farms Golf Course in Virginia. This was the first time that I was satisfied with a "hockey stick" on my card!

Crotched Mountain Resort is my favourite course (in New Hampshire) where I carded a 77 in 2012!

I've played Skamania Lodge in Washington, San Antonio's Pecan Valley - site of the 50th PGA and many Ontario courses. I scored my first eagle on the 10th Hole at Innerkip Golf Course with Andrew and witnessed Andrew's first eagle at Saginaw Golf Course in Cambridge.

Skiing Side Trips

I have enjoyed skiing Lake Tahoe, Nevada and California on numerous occasions. My favourite resorts are Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar. Skiing has made the winters more enjoyable and now that Ethan is old enough, we're teaching him the joys of the board meetings in the heights of Ontario. We visit the Carriage Hills Resort at Horseshoe Valley to enjoy the recreation of skiing. It helps to get the bigger picture as we look down over the grandeur of mountain peaks.
