My Life and Times
NEW FRONTIERS
Here we are on our Summer 2005 road trip to Oregon. We drove across the Central US and visited Mato Tipila (Devils Tower) as we made our way to the Mount Hood area of Northern Oregon.
On the return trip, we followed the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Trail and found the Green Giant in Blue Earth, Minnesota
Summer 2006 saw us visit the Grand Canyon as we stayed in Phoenix,
Arizona and traveled to Las Vegas and Sedona.
We flew for the first time in a helicopter over the Northern Desert of Arizona until we arrived at a breathtaking view of the Grand Canyon until sunset.
The Legacy Resort in Phoenix has also become a respite from the winter's cold. The dry desert air with sunshine around Christmas makes the snow more bearable. Golf in December and January is also a joy!
In July 2007, we traveled to New Hampshire, staying in Francestown. We traveled into Concord, Manchester and spent a busy day in Boston, MA. Little did we know, we found our nook in the Mountains!
We have made Francestown, NH our destination for the summer exodus because of the freshness of the mountain air and the company of friendly people. Crotched Mountain Resort has everything we need to replenish.
Summer 2008 saw Sharon and Dennis travel down the Mississippi River to arrive in San Antonio Texas. We left Cambridge to spend the night in Indianapolis, IN then to St. Louis, MO and on to Memphis, TN and Vicksburg, MS to Beaumont, TX. We spent a week in San Antonio, where we visited Sharon's sister from the Galveston area. Katie, Ethan and Dennis visited the Houston Space Centre.
We visited the Riverwalk and Alamo in San Antonio, the Schlitterbahn in Austin and Galveston. Leaving Katie and Ethan to fly home, we drove home along the East Coast, where we spent each night in a State Capital - visiting the State Houses in Baton Rouge, LO - Montgomery, AL - Atlanta, GA- Columbia, SC - Raleigh-Durham, NC and Richmond, VA. We stayed in the Wilderness, site of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War where Stonewall Jackson was mortally wounded. We visited Washington, DC, Luray Caverns (Wow!) and the Shenandoah Valley and Mountain Highway of Virginia
We spent two weeks in Francestown, NH during the summer, where we welcomed
Katie, Ethan, Dave and Amanda. We visited the Polar Ice Caves and climbed Mount Monadnock. We also spent the week before
Christmas in the warmth of The Legacy Resort
in Phoenix, AZ before coming home for the
holiday celebrations.
We hosted a holiday with Katie and Ethan, along with welcoming one year old Emily and her parents to Francistown. We all visited Portsmouth, MA and cruised the Shoal Islands on the Atlantic. Ethan taught Emily to crawl during our stay. Having retired in June, Sharon and I visited Puerto Vallarta, MX for a wonderful November holiday.
We visited old friends with whom we reunited last year, by visiting Providence and New Port, RI. We also enjoyed a week with Amanda's parents in Francestown. We also worked out a Family Reunion for our children by hosting it at Horseshoe Valley. We now have a family portrait!
We decided to add to our visit to Francestown, by travelling up to Rockland, ME to see the sights and experience the New England countryside and seafood. We discovered real lobster bisque hunted for some rare books to complete Sharon's Janet Evanovich collection. We reunited with old friends by inviting them to Francestown for a break from their busy schedule. Another winter week in sunny Arizona...
We travelled to Williamsburg, VA to experience the fall foliage in the Appalachians. We visited Jamestown and other historic coastal towns. We also teamed up with a former colleague to visit Tombstone, AZ and golf The Legacy Resort in Phoenix, AZ.
We visited Hilton Head Island, SC for the first time and loved the experience. We day tripped to Savannah, GA to discover the majestic Old South. We returned to Francestown, NH for a refreshing week in the mountains with Ethan on his own. Ethan is becoming quite the golfer taking on some real hazards.
We have plans!
