About Me...

We live in Cambridge (and have for 27+ years). Sharon and I just celebrated our 37th year together with a trip to New Hampshire.

Sharon and I are members of Central Presbyterian Church here in Cambridge. I have served in many deaconate positions. I now serve as an elder and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Canada's Church Doctrine Committee.

I retired from teaching at Turner Fenton S.S. in Brampton (www.turnerfenton.com) the biggest high school in Ontario, where I taught International Baccalaureate (www.ibo.org) Chemistry Higher Level and Physics Standard Level to some of the sharpest people in Brampton and Mississauga. I also served as the branch president (a Union Education Workers' Representative).

Wonderful opportunities for leadership and service beyond my former postings at London's Christian Academy of Western Ontario for 5 years (now called London Christian Academy www.londonchristianacademy.ca) and then Woodland Christian High School for 4 years (www.woodland.on.ca).

I am a former international Ice Hockey (Canada and US) and Inline Hockey Referee (for 15+ years), having officiated OHA and all minor and junior leagues, as well as World Championships for In-line. David and Andrew both refereed as well until I reached another goal of officiating a Pro game for a grand prize of $25K US with David as my other official and Andrew as the linesman. I hung up the blades when I turned 50.

About My Family...

My children are each living on their own.

Stephen (36) is a Sales Leader for Holiday Retirement Corp. and working his way up the corporate ladder. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta and loves fishing and the great outdoors.

Katie (34) is a loving mom and Ethan (11) who is a jewel gift from God. She works with the Federal Government (where Sharon has also worked for 23 years) as a Passport Officer. Katie and Ethan live in Kitchener.

David (32) is a university grad and is employed as a Nuclear Systems Engineer with Ontario Power Generation in Pickering. He married in July 2007 to give me another daughter (Amanda) who works for Eurest Dining Services as the Marketing Executive. David and Amanda live in Courtice Ontario (on the East Side of Toronto)  with our grand daughter, Emily Mae, born in November 2011 and newest grandson, Zachary Ryan, born in October 2013. David also programs with me on our own software (www.GradU-8.com) application.

Andrew (30) has completed a degree in

Criminology from York University. He lives

in Brampton, Ontario (near the airport). He

is the Central Canada Manager for Holiday

Retirement Corp. and spends most of his

time working with Sales Leaders and

Managers of Independent Living retirement

homes from Saskatchewan to Quebec. He

loves to travel for recreation to foreign

countries. He has to spend all his frequent

flyer points somehow!

Reflections

After 32 years of teaching High

School Physics and Chemistry, it

was a joy to me; as I watched keen

students' eyes light up with a flash of insight. I liked being around young people... they kept me young. Now I plan to use those teacher skills in presenting class management techniques to the next generations of educators.
